The Schieber Winery of Szekszárd specially designed their image to appeal to women. The starting point for the base concept of the wine labels was to choose archaic Hungarian expressions that were used about women but whose usage has become rare today. Since the expressions – and thus their meanings too – are being lost, an explanation of the wine names also appears on the label, thus preserving beauties of the Hungarian language and slightly educating the wine drinking community too.
Cserfes: The term kis cserfes, a little shrew, was used for girls whose femininity was budding, lasses who were not shy but outgoing and slightly flirty.
Fruska: A giddy filly, fruska, chases happiness and doesn’t spend much time in one place. One who strokes the hair out of your eyes, kisses you and disappears suddenly.
Hajadon: In times of old a woman who got married started to wear a scarf, the origin of the expression: bekötötték a fejét, they covered her head. An unmarried woman did not wear a scarf, they were hajadonfőt, bareheaded, that is they were still a maiden.
