Tired eyes gaze into the foggy ceiling. Strange sounds emanate from the shadows. All around - silence howling into the night. And there’s still no sleep. The consciousness is begging for escape, but insomnia has clenched its jaws, further erasing the line between dream and reality. It’s here, in this borderland, where one can sometimes find some of the strangest and unexpected splashes of subconsciousness, tearing their way as vivid images into the real world. One of such images has served as the basis for the design of our studio’s signature wine series.
Insomnia is a new project by Studio 43’oz, fulfilled in partnership with the printing house FlexLabel and paper producer Avery Dennison. The vivid, colorful, and slightly surreal design of this series is rather different from what the local consumer is used to seeing on a wine label. The centerpiece of the composition is a butterfly that was processed with tactile varnish and executed in 20 different color variations, which was possible thanks to a new digital printing technology implemented by the printing house FlexLabel. The elements surrounding the centerpiece further amplify the surreal feel of the label, giving it a modern, unusual look.
