Despite being there, a few hours drive, in Slovenia we have always passed but never stopped. This time we decided to dedicate a trip and a documentary to this country, our neighbor Slovenia does not have big monuments or world-famous attractions, but a lot of little gems, small and perfect, not yet touched by mass tourism This country has been able to synthesize and take the best of its most famous neighbors. In Piran, it seems to be in a district of Venice, in Prejama you wonder if we are in Transylvania, Bled is an alpine lake that might seem in Austria while Ljubljana could be the sister of Prague. We are not in Italy, Austria, Bohemia or Transylvania: we are in Slovenia, the green heart of Europe Our itinerary has been organized like this We arrived from Italy by car and, after passing Trieste, we stopped immediately after the border, in the small village of Pirano. Here we stayed two nights and we spent half a day to take a wonderful walk towards the salt flats of Strunjan. On the way to Ljubljana we stopped at the Postojna caves and at the magnificent Prejama tollhouse. In Ljubljana we stayed two nights. Excellent food, walks, clubs, nightlife and general relaxation characterize the Slovenian capital. From here, one hour's drive leads to Bled, an Alpine lake, an icon of Slovenia. Unfortunately we stayed only one night and the day was characterized by a summer storm. So we could not take advantage of all the sports that you can practice. To return to Italy we crossed the Triglav chain by car and we went down along the Isonzo, to stop briefly in Caporetto, to remember the place of the bloody battle.
