Hand harvesting in some wine regions is on the decline in favour of harvesting machines. Austria’s Franz Weninger has taken a stand against this trend, raising awareness about the importance of the hand harvest. Creating a t-shirt design that quickly resonated with like-minded winemakers, and paying homage to the eponymous rock band Rage Against the Machine, the t-shirt has become a catalyst for a larger movement.
On October 5th, 2018, Franz held a private event at his winery inviting friends and fellow winemakers to enjoy an evening of good wine, good company, and good music. For the night, a few young winemakers even banded together to play some Rage Against the Machine cover tracks for those in attendance.
